Person specificationAdditional RequirementsEssential criteria
  • The ability to understand and behave at all times, towards patients, visitors and colleagues according to the Trust values of safe, kind, excellent. QualificationsEssential criteria
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience Formal current qualification in Project management (such as Prince 2) to practitioner level or equivalent

Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of recent Continuing Professional Development.


ExperienceEssential criteria
  • Extensive knowledge of project management methodologies and techniques and service operations, and extensive practical experience in project management and successful ICT project delivery. High proficiency in project planning, monitoring & control, and reporting across complex environments. Business case preparation, service initiation / commissioning, and the development and monitoring of output and outcome measures. Project management experience in managing complex services including design, development, implementation and management of change in a multiple stakeholder environment. Experience of managing complex budgets from a range of income sources and demonstrable evidence of individual, team, financial, process and change management.

Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with large, complex, often disparate NHS services and clinical systems


KnowledgeEssential criteria
  • Extensive knowledge of project management methodologies and techniques and service operations. Excellent understanding and track record of successful change and project management. Use advanced analytical and judgement skills including understanding and application of complex statistical and numerical data. IT literate, including competency to advanced level in MS Office programmes and in particular in Excel and MS Project.

Desirable criteria
  • An understanding of the national NHS commitment to digital first An appreciation of NHS and healthcare issues and priorities Understanding of Healthcare IT systems and their uses


SkillsEssential criteria
  • Proven ability of managing projects across a large organisation and evidence of people and project management skills. Ability to command the confidence of managers and clinicians Work flexibly, prioritise workloads and resource them in response to changing demands and requirements. Excellent management skills including motivating and coaching staff. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and delegate effectively. Ability to find innovative ways of solving or pre-empting problems. Proven willingness to accept responsibility in a high-pressure environment Ability to forge and maintain good working relationships with all levels of staff Good analytical skills to assess critical issues relating to ICT projects, and a technical ability in understanding complex ICT systems deployment Excellent planning and organisational skills in order to prepare project plans ensuring all interdependencies are noted and accounted for Excellent Stakeholder management and inter-personal skills Excellent interpersonal, communication (written, oral, presentation, facilitation), networking and negotiation skills (including the ability to use tact and persuasion) with a track record in consistently delivering performance targets and writing complex business cases, policies and change. Line management responsibility and team management Able to deal with difficult and challenging circumstances, and to find solutions to fit all Able to work on own initiative
