Job Description

1.9wte Band 6/7 paediatric dietitians; Royal Manchester Children's Hospital - Renal or Ketogenic grade according to experience

Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (RMCH) is a tertiary Children's Hospital that provides regional and supra-regional services to include most dietetic clinical paediatric specialties.

We are based in a 371 bed, purpose built hospital in the centre of Manchester, and are continuing to expand and develop our paediatric dietetic service to reflect state of the art facilities in the largest single-site children's hospital in the UK.

Dietitians are well respected and valued members of most RMCH multi-disciplinary teams, and we provide both IP and OP services to a comprehensive range of specialties

Our paediatric dietetic service is led by a professional paediatric dietetic lead and comprises.
  • 4 x B8a clinical specialist / paediatric dietetic team leads
  • 1 x ACP in ketogenic diet therapies
  • 18 x B7 paediatric dietitians
  • 9 x B6 paediatric dietitians
  • 4 x paediatric dietetic assistant
  • Special Feeds Unit supervisors and assistants
  • Administrative support


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an additional 1.9 wte. Band 6 or 7 paediatric dietitians to join our RMCH dietetic team.

We can accommodate either full time or part time posts joining our established renal and / or ketogenic dietetic teams

To meet the person specification to be considered for a band 7 posts you should.
  • Already possess a comprehensive range of skills, expertise and CPD in acute paediatric dietetics including either renal or ketogenic dietetics.
  • be competent to work as an autonomous paediatric dietitian within professional practice guidelines and a structured supervision framework and deliver training to others.
  • be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and able to provide strong clinical leadership to the service and be able to line manage and support junior staff and students,
  • have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with good time management to be able to prioritize your work to meet deadlines in an often fast-paced pressured environment.


To be considered for a band 6 development post.
  • We can support and develop your competencies to specialise in either renal or ketogenic dietetics.
  • We are looking for dietitians who already have some foundations in general acute paediatric dietetics and CPD.
  • Once you have successfully completed an internal training package and meet the person spec for a band 7 the post will be regraded to band 7.

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £26.85(standard disclosure) or £43.85 (enhanced disclosure) which will be deducted from salary, in the first 3 months of employment. If you wish to withdraw once a DBS application has commenced you will be still liable for payment.
