Job Description

This post is funded for 1 year, in the first instance, with the potential for contract renewal, dependent upon funding.
The post is not suitable for candidates looking for remote-only work as you will be required to be present in our Addenbrookes' office approximately 3 days a week.

Person specificationQualificationsEssential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent or extensive data handling/management experience GCP Trained

Desirable criteria
  • Science, computer science, HCP or data management qualification


ExperienceEssential criteria
  • Experience in handling research data (entry into databases, generation of queries, cleaning of data, generation of data reports, tracking of data collection forms) Experience in producing specifications for the design of data capture tools Experience of user acceptance testing of database systems for collection of research data Experience of writing data-related documentation, guidelines or SOPs

Desirable criteria
  • Experience in working in the academic/university and/or NHS environment. Experience of oncology trials Experience in using remote electronic data capture / electronic CRFs. Experience in using MACRO Experience of project managing the data aspects of clinical trials Experience in using project management tools such as MS Project Line management (direct or matrix)


KnowledgeEssential criteria
  • Excellent working knowledge of databases and data cleaning Knowledge of good CRF and database design and understanding of documentation requirements Understanding and knowledge of improving and maintaining data quality. Understanding of regulatory requirements related to data integrity, confidentiality and good clinical practice Knowledge of clinical trial lifecycle

Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of current developments in clinical trials data management Knowledge of medical terminology and basic anatomy. Understanding of the principles of the Human Tissue Act


SkillsEssential criteria
  • Proficient in the use of IT Able to communicate effectively to colleagues at all levels Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Able to work under pressure, methodical in approach, with effective problem solving ability. Ability to organise workload to meet tight deadlines, working under own initiative. Ability to work well independently and within a multi-disciplinary team environment. Ability to listen, take constructive criticism and learn from mistakes

Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrate ability and skills to learn the use of new computer systems and packages rapidly and accurately. Understanding of basic programming logic Experienced trainer in data management principles Proficiency in MS Office (or equivalent) applications Line management, mentorship or proven ability to give feedback Ability to facilitate meetings and take minutes
