Job Description

Main duties of the job

Applicants will be able to demonstrate experience or a high level of enthusiasm/commitment to working with people who are experiencing difficulties maintaining their wellbeing and experiencing mental health difficulties. Experience of working within multiagency environments will also be an advantage. The post holder will also be required to complete service audit and evaluation projects and contribute to service development activities such as staff training and service evaluation Post holders will need to contribute actively to team and multi-agency working, so a high standard of written and verbal communication is required. Living Well is currently in development, therefore the post holder will need to demonstrate flexibility and adaptiveness to service change and support ongoing prototyping and service developments.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Job Summary/Purpose:

The post holder will be responsible for the promotion and management of a high- quality psychology service for people who use the Salford Living Well service. The post holder will lead and develop the psychological resource within the Living Well team. They will support the development of psychological thinking and expertise within the team and the psychosocial intervention work of Living Well colleagues via the provision of supervision, consultation and liaison sessions and in-house training. The post-holder will have a key role in supporting the further development of a psychologically healthy team for service users and staff.

Person specification

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • Eligibility to register as a practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council.or equivalent for psychological therapists
  • Completion of supervision training


Desirable criteria
  • Completion of further post qualification training within psychological therapies (e.g. CAT, DBT, CFT, MBT etc.).


Experience
Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable post-qualification experience of specialist assessment and treatment of adult clients and those with psychological difficulties in a secondary care setting.
  • Demonstrable experience of working within complex systems and being able to develop formulations to inform care for service users involved in multiple systems of care i.e. systemic formulation of complex need
  • Demonstrable post-qualification experience of working with complex health problems, including problems associated with complex relational and emotional needs, and severe depression, anxiety, co-morbid substance misuse and trauma.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with people across the life span from age 18+
  • Demonstrable experience of clinical leadership


Desirable criteria
  • Experience of leading or heading a service and representing a service at a senior level.


Knowledge
Essential criteria
  • Up to date knowledge of the needs of older people with severe and enduring mental health problems, including dementia.
