Job Description

The Regional Infectious Diseases Unit is delighted to invite applicants for a Senior Clinical Fellow post in Infectious Diseases.

The Infectious Diseases Unit is situated in North Manchester General Hospital and offers a broad range of infection experience for clinicians of all levels. It is a department that offers excellent training opportunities for doctors with an interest in Infection specialties, in a well-supported environment.

The unit delivers tertiary level Infectious Diseases care for Greater Manchester and further afield and is a busy and dynamic department providing a comprehensive regional service drawing on a large catchment area.

The department comprises two purpose-built adult wards with 25 level-1 beds, 2 monitored beds with a dedicated nurse, 1 investigation room and an assessment trolley. Twenty-one of the beds are isolation cubicles with separate bath and shower facilities. Four of these cubicles provide medium secure isolation facilities with negative pressure ventilation for patients with multidrug resistant organisms such as TB, those with potential High Consequence Infectious Diseases such as MERSCoV and other possible category 4 pathogen infections. The ID unit has been instrumental in the regional and local response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £29.50(standard disclosure) or £47.50 (enhanced disclosure) which will be deducted from salary, in the first 3 months of employment. If you wish to withdraw once a DBS application has commenced you will be still liable for payment.
