University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is looking for an experienced Digital Communications Officer to maintain and develop UCLH’s online presence, and to design and edit key publications.

UCLH specialises in women’s health and the treatment of cancer, infection, neurological, gastrointestinal and oral disease.We offer world-class support services includingcritical care, imaging, nuclear medicine and pathology.

Good communication is vital in everything we do and plays an important part in how we care for patients and relate to each other. The communications team is responsible for managing and co-ordinating all of our internal and external communications, helping to manage people's perception of UCLH and our reputation.

Working as part of a small digital communications team work within the wider communications team, the postholder will support the Digital Communications Manager in delivering high-quality digital and printed outputs.

This is a varied, hands-on role that includes:
  • updating the UCLH website and intranet
  • maintaining social media and online accounts
  • design and edit of UCLH publications, including UCLH magazine and annual report.

The postholder will work closely with members of the Communications team and the wider organisation to provide accurate, up-to-date information, and support colleagues in updating the UCLH website and other media. A key element of the role will be seeking out digital innovations, and sharing ideas and solutions across the communications team.

The successful applicant will display a broad range of digital communications skills, including web content management systems and Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign and Photoshop). Along with design expertise they will also have strong writing and editing skills and be familiar with writing to a house style. Good communication skills are essential, to help understand and discuss business requirements, and to explain technical issues in plain English. The ability to manage and prioritise their own workload is also important.

The role represents an ideal opportunity for an experienced online designer or editor looking to further develop their skills within a healthcare organisation. This is a 12 months, fixed term position, for 37.5 hours a week, normally Monday to Friday.
