Job Description

Major Healthcare is a specialist recruitment consultancy, providing quality permanent, contract and temporary staffing solutions to clients from our wide network of UK offices.

We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Band 5 enthusiastic and self-motivated Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team based in York. You will be working with adults recovering from brain injuries and those affected by a wide spectrum of neurological conditions.

The ideal candidate will provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and treatment for an adult resident group with complex, acquired neurological disorders such as stroke, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury.

The ability to apply comprehensive physical and cognitive skills that complement working in neurological rehabilitation is required, however there will be the opportunity to develop skills in these areas.

Key Responsibilities but not restricted too:

- Have extensive and varied experience working as a band 5 occupational therapist, or previous experience as a band 6 occupational therapist, with a keen interest in developing their neurological rehabilitation skill and competency.

- Able to work as an autonomous practitioner and as part as a wider interdisciplinary team.

- Provide specialist evidence based occupational assessment and develop and facilitate treatment plans and occupational therapy interventions

- Develop enhanced skills and maintain CPD through self-directed learning, clinical supervision, mentorship and structured training sessions with occupational therapy colleagues and the interdisciplinary team

- Responsible for the development, and clinical training and supervision of junior occupational therapist, occupational therapy students, therapy technicians, rehabilitation assistants and peers.

- Support the Clinical Lead occupational therapist and the Head of Therapies in delivering the organisations therapy rehabilitation process

- Formulate therapy plans to meet the needs of the individual students and their environment alongside supporting key staff.

- Organise and plan your designated caseload ensuring timely and effective management.

- Support staff with the implementation of Occupational Therapy interventions.

- Maintain up to date and accurate clinical notes in line with professional standards, GDPR and the department’s therapy policy.

- Assist with the implementation and the development of the universal provision within the education and residential setting.

- Liaise with staff so that therapy techniques and strategies can be disseminated and feedback obtained.

- Attend regular staff meetings to promote a multidisciplinary team approach and to provide specialist advice relating to the appropriate.

- Maintain a CPD diary and engaging in the appraisal process.

- Attend Multidisciplinary Meetings and Annual Review Meetings as required.

Successful Candidates

- Degree or a post-graduate diploma in Occupational Therapy

- HCPC registered

- Excellent communication skills, empathy, team player

The salary for this exciting new role is £25,000-£30,000 depending on experience.

Successful candidates must have:

- A recognised degree in Occupational Therapy

- Registration of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to relate to others and develop good working relationships.
