Job Description - Operating Department Practitioner

Location: Marylebone, London

Salary: £ (depending on experience)

Contract type: Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover)

We are a select team of surgeons, doctors, nurses and practitioners with the ethos of delivering a high quality, bespoke service utilising the latest innovations, technologies and medical expertise in the art of cosmetic services. We are based in the heart of London and have been operating for over 12 years.

We provide surgical and non-surgical cosmetic services to wide host of clientele including celebrities, parents, executives and royal households and we are now looking for an Operating Department Practitioner to join our growing, diverse team!

You will be required to provide high standards of skilled care and support during each phase of a patient's perioperative care - anaesthetic, surgery and recovery.

You will work as part of a team to provide a safe, cost effective, efficient care environment for patients, relatives and carers. You will be expected to function clinically within the Operating Department and other associated areas as required.

You will also be a problem solver who excels in customer service and is comfortable in a customer facing role, calm under pressure with a positive outlook and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.

Key responsibilities

• To carry out a full range of registered heath care professional duties, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient’s condition and care with support from the Practitioner in charge.

• Maintains the privacy and dignity of all patients whilst adhering to the clinic’s department policies, reporting any difficulties with these duties to senior staff.

• Maintains a safe environment when caring for patients, including those patients requiring frequent levels of monitoring.

• Monitors all patient care and treatment, maintaining high standards and quality at all times & is able to prioritise patient care, recognise deterioration in a patient’s condition and alert senior staff immediately.

• Maintains accurate, contemporaneous and legible written records of care where required

• Uses effective communication, written and verbal with all levels of staff including the multidisciplinary team, patients and relatives, taking into account impairments, levels of consciousness and language barriers.

• Adheres to the agreed procedures as identified, and promotes by example, a high standard of good quality care within the theatre.

• Responsible, as a trained heath care professional, for the control and administration of drugs within the regulations outlined in EA Clinic’s Medicine Policy and the NMC/HPCP.

• Good interpersonal and communication skills

• High level of IT literatacy

• Ability to demonstrate initiative

• Excellent planning and organisational skills

• Excellent command of written and spoken English

• Ability to show leadership at all levels and work effectively as part of a team

Qualifications

• Registered ODP

• ILS/ALS

• ERAM/ALERT course

• Plastic surgery/cosmetic surgery experience preferable

• Post qualification experience within the peri-operative setting
