Job Description

Job overview

This is an exciting time to join us as we have recently received additional funding to develop our Single Point of Access (SPoA) service including the introduction of new senior clinical roles. SPoA provides urgent mental health advice and support by phone to individuals who are not currently receiving care and treatment from KMPT services.

It also provides an urgent and emergency referral management function. This is a critical role within the organisation as the first point of contact for those contacting secondary mental health services.

You will be a confident and experienced mental health clinician, with a professional qualification in Nursing or Occupational Therapy. You will have experience of having worked in a supervisory position before, and you must be able to demonstrate willingness to ensure that KMPT's values are realised in the way that the service operates. Post graduate leadership and/or management training is desirable.

Main duties of the job

You will have excellent interpersonal skills that you'll use to support the team to provide the best possible care. There are three Band 7 roles within the team who will share operational and clinical duties based on individual job plans (with one taking the lead operationally and two operating as clinical leads).

You will work clinically across all aspects of the service and support decision making around complex cases as a key member of the multidisciplinary team.

You will provide clinical and managerial supervision to other clinicians in the team. A flexible and can do attitude is essential.

A diverse post qualification experience in mental health is required, as is at least 3 years post qualifying experience, with at least one of these years having worked in a Band 6 role.

Working for our organisation

Come and work with us in the Garden of England where we combine exceptional professional development opportunities with a tremendous quality of life.

We are Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT), providing mental health, learning disability and specialist services, serving 1.8 million people across the county.

The Trust (rated Good overall by the CQC and Outstanding for care) has 3,283 staff working in 66 buildings across 33 locations, covering an area of 1,450 square miles.

You will be joining friendly, passionate colleagues, rich in their diversity, who are committed to providing excellent care to our service users and their loved ones.

The nature of our work attracts kindness and compassion as standard and everyone from our cleaners and porters to the chief executive and chairman are recognised as playing a vital role in providing an exemplary service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The SpoA currently operates from 7.30am - 10pm, 365 days a year, however we are moving towards 24/7 operation within the next three months. There is an expectation that the successful candidates will work a rotation of shifts across a 7 day week (1 weekend in 3), with shift times between 8am and 8pm. There may be opportunities for long days as part of the shift pattern. As with all services, these arrangements may change as the service continues to develop. We are committed to supporting an effective work/life balance in the best interest of staff and patients and the service will strive to support your professional development through regular supervision in asupportive working environment.
