Job Description

Main duties of the job
  • To act as a key member of the Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) project team and pharmacy workstream
  • To be a specialist EPMA clinical champion and an advocate for the EPMA projectacross the Trust
  • To contribute to development of training materials for EPMA to support pharmacy teams
  • To participate in audit work relating to EPMA and collate data to support the monitoring of performance targets in respect of the project
  • To build and maintain the drug catalogue liaising with Civica and FDB as required
  • To develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) relating to EPMA and suggest changes to any Trust policies impacted on by the implementation and use of EPMA

Person specification

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 3
  • BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
  • Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Accredited Checking Technician qualification
  • Keeping professionally up to date including CPD in line with GPhC requirements


Experience
Essential criteria
  • Working in hospital pharmacy post qualification
  • Providing pharmaceutical care to mental health patients
  • Working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Planning and implementing change


Desirable criteria
  • Health Informatics systems including EPMA


Knowledge
Essential criteria
  • Microsoft Office: Excel, Word Outlook and Teams
  • Training of staff
  • Developing Standard Operating Procedures
  • Specialist technical and clinical pharmaceutical issues, medicines governance and risk management
  • Medicines related errors and incidents and supporting staff to learn from these
  • Medication recording within EPR


Desirable criteria
  • EPMA systems use in secondary care setting
  • Medicines Formularies in secondary care eg GMMMG

  • Means, ability, and willingness to travel in the course of performing duties
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the role; please note, there will be times during the project where shift work will be required to ensure a period of cover is available for all medication rounds following a go-live.
