Job Description

Manchester Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Locum Consultant Haematologist to join our team

Come to work in our great northern city, home to two of the world's greatest football teams, Test cricket, Oasis, the Stone Roses and the Halle Orchestra as well as some of the best schools in the UK. The Lake and Peak District national parks are within easy reach and the affluent suburbs of north Cheshire and south Lancashire are an easy commute.

We are currently recruiting to our Haematology Team. This is an exciting time to join us: -
  • We are one of a very small number of centres to offer the revolutionary new CAR-T treatment.
  • We provide a regional tertiary referral service for haematological malignancy, stem cell transplantation, thrombosis, haemostasis and haemoglobinopathies.
  • We provide general clinical haematology services for the local population of Central Manchester
  • We have an impressive clinical trials portfolio including phase 1-3 studies
  • Manchester Foundation Trust is the lead provider for Greater Manchester Haematological Cancer Diagnostic Partnership and also leads the North West Genomics Hub

The Post

This is a locum post for a Consultant in the Clinical Haematology Department at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The directorate of Clinical Haematology is part of the Clinical Service Unit of In-Patient Medical Specialties.

The post holder will work as part of the haemato-oncology and stem cell transplant / cellular and gene therapy teams and is to start as soon as possible. The post holder will work closely with the other members of the attending and on-call consultant teams (Dr Lourdes Rubio, Dr Eleni Tholouli, Dr Fiona Dignan, Dr Sarah Burns, Dr Stefan Lozenov (locum), Dr Shahid Iqbal (locum)).

This is a 10 PA job plan. Any Consultant who is unable for personal reasons, to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust.

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post.
