Job Description

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the UK, employing over 25,000 staff.

We are the main provider of hospital care to approximately Apply people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England. We are also the lead provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology Cancer, Paediatrics, Women's Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been the biggest challenged that the NHS has ever faced. Fundamental to the halt of spread was the national rollout of the vaccination programme. To protect our staff and patients this work will continue providing boosters to staff and vulnerable groups alongside the national flu programme.

An opportunity has arisen to join the Vaccination Team as the lead pharmacist and also support the antimicrobial stewardship team. This post will be based on tall MFT sites supporting vaccination at the Oxford Road Campus, Wythenshawe, North Manchester General Hospital and Trafford Hospitals.

Main responsibilities include:
  • To be involved in the strategic planning and service development of pharmacy services in relation to annual vaccinations.
  • To be responsible for clinical oversight of the safe storage, handling and preparation of the vaccines across all MFT sites as a delegated authority from the chief pharmacist.
  • To facilitate implementation of national guidance
  • To develop processes and guidance to ensure safe standards of care are delivered within the vaccination service.
  • To be responsible for the provision of a high quality comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to your area of responsibility promoting the best clinical and cost-effective use of medicines.

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £29.50(standard disclosure) or £47.50 (enhanced disclosure) which will be deducted from salary, in the first 3 months of employment.
