Job Description

Main duties of the job

Opportunities have arisen within the Adult Forensic Services for Band 5 Occupational Therapists.

You would be responsible for your own caseload and would work closely with the clinical team to provide assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to service users within a specialist mental health setting.

You would work alongside an established team of Occupational Therapists and support staff to deliver a clinical programme of individual and group work.

Job Summary/Purpose
' To manage a defined caseload using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in AFS and record all interventions.



' To abide by the College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and the College of Occupational Therapy Professional Standards for OT Practice.



' To develop skills and knowledge through participation in a Professional Development Planning process to meet the competency framework.



' To work within a Medium Secure Forensic Mental Health Setting providing a service to Clients who are deemed to be a high-risk group and have complex and challenging needs.

Clinical

' To undertake Occupational Therapy assessments for a designated caseload addressing Occupational performance and skills deficits, enabling the client in areas of Self Maintenance, Productivity and leisure.

' To Work with clients to identify Occupational Therapy goals as part of overall care plan

' To plan and implement individual and/or group interventions in collaboration with the client, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.

' To monitor and evaluate treatment in order to measure progress and assure effectiveness of the intervention.

Risk Assessment and Management

' To contribute to the assessment and management of clinical risks presented by patients within the service and ensure that all risk issues are clearly communicated to occupational therapists and ward based staff.

Service Development and Delivery

' To participate in the planning, evaluation and audit of practice, clinical pathways and protocols within your area.

' To participate in the delivery of the Occupational Therapy Strategy.

' To be responsible for maintaining stock, advising on resources to carry out the job, including the responsible management of petty cash.

Professional Development

' To use a personal development plan to apply acquired skills and knowledge in professional practice.

' To utilise the personal development plan process, to update skills required for competency framework

' To maintain a professional portfolio for CPD, recording learning outcomes through participation in internal and external development opportunities, utilising ring fenced CPD time.
