Job Description
Saint Mary's Hospital Managed Clinical Service is part of Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) and provides care for women at the Oxford Road Campus and Wythenshawe Site. This post is based at the Wythenshawe Hospital Campus which is a large teaching hospital and provides both secondary level care for its local population and tertiary level care for women across the North West of England. The workload is therefore varied and interesting. This stimulating and pleasant working environment provides opportunities for developing general skills in obstetrics and gynaecology.
The post will involve work on the Gynaecology Ward which holds an emergency Gynaecology Unit. Ante-natal clinics, Delivery Suite, Maternity Triage and Emergency Gynaecology Theatre these are held at Wythenshawe Hospital, Gynaecology out-patient clinics are held at Withington Hospital and Women's Health and elective surgery is held at Saint Mary's Hospital Oxford Road. There are opportunities to avail in medical education, research and audit within this department, which is now part of the largest single O&G department in the NHS.
This post may be useful to gain ATSM qualifications and appropriate supervision and support will be given towards this. There are ample opportunities for training in all aspects of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, including early pregnancy assessment, maternal medicine and intrapartum care. The department also supports suitable candidates towards their CESR applications.
The on-call commitment will be 1:6.5 with 1:13 weekends a full shift system but will be New Deal compliant at all times. You will be supported by an on-site consultant on each night shift.
