Position Occupational Therapy Manager
Responsible to Chief Executive
Reports to Clinical Director
The post of Occupational Therapy Manager is a pivotal post with responsibility to lead and manage all Occupational Therapy resources to ensure a comprehensive Occupational Therapy service and to enhance its function and status throughout the service.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, skills and competencies:
Hold a qualification in Occupational Therapy and be a member of the Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland.
Have a total of five years post qualification experience in areas which include General Adult Psychiatry/ Neuropsychiatry/ Psychiatry of Old Age.
Ideally have a management level or position of additional responsibility to their clinical area.
Demonstrated ability to provide a level of clinical care required by this post according to the standards and requirements set by statutory and regulatory bodies.
Be able to illustrate a high level of verbal and non-verbal skills in order to effectively communicate with and relate to residents and / or parents / family, colleagues, hospital staff and management.
Be able to demonstrate a satisfactory level of proficiency so as to enable the appointee to manage his/her staff and service and to be able to interact with and participate in hospital management structures as required. Furthermore, the appointee should demonstrate the ability to lead, supervise and be responsible for the clinical work of his / her department team.
Have the skills required for educational training to students of occupational therapy.
Demonstrate an ability to lead change and to develop occupational therapy services.
Be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
