The Financial Accounting Manager will report to the Director of Finance. The role has full responsibility for providing an efficient and effective financial accounting service to the organisation. The role will lead and develop the payroll, purchase ledger, sales ledger and cash/treasury functions to ensure that they run efficiently. Additionally, the Internal Auditor and Systems Accountant will report to this position.
You will motivate and lead a team of up to 20 staff, mainly in accounts and a mixture of ledger and payroll staff and general accounts.
To provide leadership and actively coach and develop the Payroll Manager, Sales Ledger Manager, Accounts Team Manager, Systems Accountant and Internal Auditor.
To take lead of the Sales Ledger function of the business, driving the function to improve billing efficiency accuracy and timeliness and debt levels in line with departmental targets.
To take the lead of the Payroll function of the business - driving the function to reduce errors, simplify the process and ensure that the payroll develops and plans changes to meet business needs.
In order to succeed in this challenging and varied role you will be a qualified accountant with proven team management and development experience. You will be technically up to date with a practical knowledge of FRS 102.
You will have a high level of integrity, honesty, respect and empathy. You will be prepared to make decisions and recommendations for improvement and happy taking responsibility for outcomes.
Exposure to high volume transactional environment within a multi-contract service sector organisation is ideal with experience of service based not for profit operations desirable. Commercial acumen is a must preferably from having worked as a business partner.
Staff management experience, with the ability to build a team, encouraging cross-learning and consistent service delivery.
Experience of working with and improving systems and processes.
Experience of liaising pro-actively with external advisors notably external and internal auditors.
