    Senior II Occupational Therapist (Band 6 equivalent)

    A leading, National care provider is seeking to appoint a Senior II Occupational Therapist to join their Therapy team in Blackheath. The centre provides comprehensive assessment, rehabilitation and therapy for male and female adolescents and adults (over 17 years), specialising in the treatment of patients with a primary cognitive or behavioural impairment resulting from a brain injury or other complex neurological condition.

    As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will be joining an experienced OT team that consists of an OT lead, 2 x Senior OTs and 2 x rehabilitation technicians. You will also work within the wider MDT team across both their units with patients with complex neuro-disabilities and challenging behaviours. As Senior II OT you will be supervised by a Senior OT and supported with your personal and professional development within the centre. The unit is committed to on-going training and development.

    Main Responsibilities

    * Working as part of the Therapy Team supporting service users with complex acquired neurological impairments within an inpatient intensive rehabilitation setting

    * Providing highly specialised assessment and treatment for patients with complex neurological conditions

    * To be able to develop patient centred goals to address Occupational performance and skill deficits, enabling the patients in areas of self-maintenance, productivity and leisure

    * Carrying out rehabilitation programmes with patients in conjunction with other members of the MDT to maximise patients functional ability in activities of daily living

    * Accepting clinical responsibility for the Occupational Therapy intervention of own caseload

    * Working as a named therapist and to be able to manage complex discharge planning

    * To be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation in line with professional and company standards of practice

    * To be able to manage a complex caseload with supervision support if required and be flexible in prioritising on a daily basis

    * Providing in service, departmental and other training provided at the centre when required

    Key Requirements:

    * Have a minimum BSc or recognised postgraduate diploma in Occupational Therapy

    * Hold current HCPC registration

    * Hold a comprehensive knowledge of professional standards and clinical governance

    * Be able to develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, visitors, carers, members of the MDT and senior professional and managerial staff

    * Have a person centred ethos, showing empathy and a desire to make a difference

    * Be flexible and adaptable, well organised and able to manage time and workload effectively in line with the needs of the service

    * Have a desire to expand your professional development and support organisational change

    * Be a Registered Member of the College of Occupational Therapists

    * Evidence successful completion of relevant specialist short courses
