The Woodbourne Priory Hospital is a 71-bed acute psychiatric hospital for adults and adolescents, based in Edgbaston, Birmingham, offering a wide range of care to our varied client base of inpatients and outpatients. Set back within landscaped gardens, the tranquil environment of the Woodbourne Priory Hospital offers calming and recovery-focused residential treatment.
We are currently recruiting for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist for a Fixed Term Contract to be working at the 9-bedded Eating Disorder Unit for 3 days providing psychological interventions for the EDU service, and 2 days providing psychological interventions on the CAMHS services for young people who have psychological difficulties, including issues in relation to eating. This may be facilitated through individual and group work for our inpatient and outpatient service provision.
Considering the patient's/ young person's views carefully, and their families where applicable, you will assess the psychological needs, devise psychological formulations and treatment plans in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.
Your role will contribute to the patient/young person adapting to any aspect of their life with more independence, confidence and, where applicable, management of their eating disorder.
You will be part of the multi-disciplinary team which consists of: Consultant Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Counselling and Clinical Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists, Family Therapists, Drama Therapists and Nurses, ensuring that the patient/young person receives truly integrated and individualised care provision.
Specialising in the management and treatment of mental health problems including addiction, the hospital has established an excellent reputation for providing the highest standards of care. As part of our multi-disciplinary team, you will support patients/clients to receive an evidence-based and truly holistic approach to their treatment, regardless of complexity or severity.
What we'd like from you:
* Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology
* BPS Registered
* HCPC registered
* Proven experience in mental health and knowledge of the Mental Health Act in service provision with adults
* Patient - centric and commitment to delivering high quality care
* Fine tuned assessment and clinical decision making skills
* Experience and skills in responding to elevated levels of risk
* Tolerance for patient/young person's distress and managing own stress levels
* Excellent organisational capability
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills
* Working in a self-motivated and independent way
