Occupational Therapist – Band 6 Surgical position within an acute hospital setting: Watford, West Hertfordshire, England.
Cpl Healthcare in partnership with our client is currently seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist for permanent Band 6 post based in the surgical directorate of an acute hospital setting in Watford, West Hertfordshire, England.
All of the rotations offer a wide variety of patients across Surgical wards , covering a caseload of amputees and general surgical patients including upper GI and Gynae Oncology patients
Patients will present with complex conditions for assessment and treatment. This role offers excellent training and development opportunities with regular supervision and performance and skills development.
Our client’s hospital is located 30 minutes from London by train and is within easy walking distance of the Metropolitan line (underground) and mainline rail.
To provide specialised assessment and treatment for patients with complex needs, and to provide expert advice, guidance and information to health and social care professionals, carers and relatives and other non-professionals
To perform advanced Occupational Therapy assessments of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions; To develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme which will contribute to safe discharges and prevention of hospital admissions.
To hold responsibility for own case load
To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
To be responsible for supervision, education and assessment of Band 5 Occupational Therapists, Assistants, Technical Instructors and Support Workers.
To supervise, educate and assess the performance of Occupational Therapy Students;
To undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to develop and enhance personal and team’s clinical practice within each rotation; to make suggestions to Team Lead/Clinical Lead/Head of Service for changes to practice by the team; to assist in the implementation of specific changes to practice; to contribute to the preparation of service protocols.
A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
A minimum of 12-18 months post graduate experience within an acute hospital setting
Registration with the HCPC or eligibility for registration
Permission to work in the UK
