Clinical Psychologist - Macclesfield, Cheshire

£17.50- £18 per hour for minimum of 24hours per week / negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications.
Eligible for company pension scheme at 3 months. Mileage allowance for off site activity.


My client are a leading independent provider of health and social care services. Working in close partnership with local authorities and primary care trusts, they provide care and support for older people as well as a range of health care services. These services include the operation of NHS walk-in centres, GP surgeries and treatment centres and the provision of a range of specialist care and children’s services.

My client are currently looking for an experienced Clinical Psychologist to work within one of their specialist services in the Macclesfield area. This particular service is a 12 bedded service for female patients with acute and complex mental health conditions including Personality disorder and self harm.

Job description

* Provide clinical Psychology to female psychiatric patients with complex needs including personality disorder and self harming behaviour.
* Must be able to provide CBT, DBT and EMDR as part of the provision.
* Facilitate group work where appropriate including family therapy if necessary.
* Must have a robust knowledge of schema - focused and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
* Knowledge of eating disorders desirable but not essential.
* Must be able to produce comprehensive reports and letters for CPA meetings, Hospital Managers and MHRT.
* Provide ongoing educational support to peers and other disciplines.
* Must be comfortable in working independently and managing a diverse patient group.
* Should have a knowledge of neuropsychological assessment.
* Be able to mentor, supervise and direct both students and psychology assistants.
* The correct person must be highly motivated and reliable with proven analytical and research skills.
* She/he must have significant experience working with a challenging client group with expertise in a range of psychological models.
* Must be able to work within a MDT and be a team player.
* Must be registered with the British Psychological Society.
